Sutee Kunavichayanont is director of the PSG Art Gallery. He is an installation artist with a great concern for Thai history and customs. Often interactive, his artworks encourage the audience to question and critique received ideas. Kunavichayanont is also a writer and critic. He co-curated Thailand’s contribution to the 2003 Venice Biennale. The H+F Collection contains two installations by Kunavichayanont, which are featured in the travelling exhibition So Close/So Far Away (2007-08).

The Work: A wallpaper installation of faces together with small tables which are marked with wood-carvings that, through text and image, encourage the audience to develop positive attitudes towards HIV. The audiences are able to make a rubbing on artwork and bring the finished work back home. The works emphasizes public space as a place of interaction, and employs art as a necessary vehicle for such contact.
